Day 1 – Coastal-Jungle Kickoff: Chetumal / Bacalar → Calakmul Reserve (Quintana Roo → Campeche)
Start in Chetumal or Bacalar (Lake of Seven Colors). Early departure along the Escárcega highway, then very soon a turnoff onto secondary dirt roads and trails heading north into the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve.

Sections of low jungle with loose stones, mud if it rained, small stream crossings.

Arrival at the central area of Calakmul: about 60 km of dirt roads inside the reserve (one of the most iconic routes for adventure in the peninsula).

Quick visit to the tallest pyramids of the Mayan region surrounded by untouched jungle.
Overnight in a rustic camp or cabins inside/outside the reserve. ~220–280 km (70% dirt roads). Feeling: absolute solitude + howler monkeys.

Day 2 – Heart of the lowland jungle: Calakmul → Escárcega → trails toward Champotón / Candelaria
Departure through more of Calakmul’s internal roads (you might see jaguars or tapirs if you're lucky). Then dirt roads north until connecting with trails parallel to Route 186, avoiding asphalt as much as possible.

Landscape: medium jungle, hidden cenotes, roads with roots and sand.

Optional: detour to less-traveled areas near Conhuas or south of Escárcega.
Overnight in Escárcega or a nearby town (basic hotel). ~240–300 km (60–70% off-road). Day of intense heat and dust.

Day 3 – Escárcega → Palenque (via secondary dirt roads in Chiapas)
Route along trails parallel to Highway 186/199, avoiding the highway: rural roads, humid high jungle, rocky ascents/descents.

Possible mud if it has rained recently.

Arrival in Palenque in the afternoon: quick visit to the ruins and waterfalls (motorcycle parked below).
Overnight in Palenque (jungle cabins or town). ~240-300 km (70% dirt roads). Change of ecosystem: greener and more humid jungle.

Day 4 – The Wildest Day: Palenque → Bonampak → Yaxchilán → Lacanjá
Departure 5-6 am. First, approximately 60-80 km of rough dirt road to Bonampak (impressive Mayan murals).

Continue along a dirt track to Frontera Corozal → boat across the Usumacinta River (approximately 40 minutes) to Yaxchilán (riverbank ruins, howler monkeys, pristine jungle).

Return via the same dirt road (extreme mud if it rains).
Overnight in Lacandon cabins or at the Río Lacanjá campsite (authentic indigenous experience). Approximately 180-240 km by motorcycle and boat (80-90% true off-road). An epic and demanding day.

Then Misol-Ha (spectacular waterfall).

Landscape: flatter and more humid Tabasco jungle.

Arrival in Villahermosa or Paraíso in the afternoon (optional relaxation at Golfo beach).
Overnight in Villahermosa or nearby. ~280-350 km (60-75% off-road).

Stop in Bacalar if time allows (Lake of Colors + cold beer).

Arrival in Cancún at sunset: mud-covered motorcycle, tired body, total satisfaction.

~350-420 km (40-60% dirt roads at the beginning, then more paved roads to arrive before dark). A perfect ending.
